Mission Statement
Reiki Master Anne Schneider supports healing through public practice and education — offering Reiki talks, written articles, and training workshops for First, Second, and Master Degrees of the Usui System of Natural Healing.
What Is Reiki and Where Did It Come From?
Reiki is a global healing practice rooted in relaxation and natural wellness. Mikao Usui founded the system in early 20th-century Japan. In 1938, Mrs. Hawayo Takata brought Reiki teachings to the West through Hawaii. Today, many lineages exist worldwide, each with its own approach to practice and teaching.
Rei translates as wondrous or universal energy; ki refers to the vital energy within all living things. Reiki catalyzes the body’s natural ability to heal itself, channeling universal energy through the practitioner for the purpose of healing. It is a safe, non-invasive, hands-on technique — one that works at multiple levels: body, mind, and spirit. Reiki can do no harm. Its only goal is the highest level of healing.
How does Reiki work?
Reiki healing is not synonymous with curing, though that may indeed happen. What Reiki creates is an energy shift. It may be subtle or even imperceptible, but the energy that enters the body raises lower cellular vibrations to a higher level. Anne’s Teaching Master, Penelope Jewell — the first Usui System traditional Teaching Master in New York State (1988) — puts it this way: Reiki works like a tuning fork, helping the body, mind, and spirit of the recipient access and activate a healing power already within them.
Where Does Reiki Come From?
Reiki is recognized as coming from a higher source — call it God, the Divine, creator, higher power, or spirit. Reiki Masters train and attune students as they advance through the degrees of Reiki, opening their ability to channel this energy for their own wellness and, if they choose, for others. Reiki is available to everyone, regardless of age, ability, or health condition. It can be learned in a weekend and practiced simply — while offering a lifetime of deepening, supported by the steady guidance of a Teaching Reiki Master.
Reiki Treatment in Kerrville Texas
Reiki typically produces deep relaxation and a sense of well-being. Recipients often feel a comforting warmth and may fall asleep. Some feel little or no physical sensation — and that’s perfectly fine. The absence of sensation doesn’t diminish the benefits; it simply means the experience isn’t registering physically.
What to Expect in a Session
During a session, you lie fully clothed on a table, covered with a sheet or blanket. No medical history or diagnosis is required. Anne places her hands in a gentle sequence of positions on the head, chest, torso, and back — typically three to five minutes each. A full appointment is about ninety minutes, with seventy-five minutes on the Reiki table.
You may choose soft background music or silence. The session is centered entirely on your comfort. Anne encourages questions and conversation to be saved for after the treatment, so you can remain relaxed throughout.
How Reiki Can Help
Reiki doesn’t replace professional medical care, but it works well alongside it. As an integrative therapy, Reiki may help the body use prescribed medications more effectively and with fewer side effects. With physician approval and monitoring, regularly scheduled sessions may allow for reduced dosages in conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and chronic pain.
Reiki is already present in a number of medical settings. At Texas’ renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center, it has helped patients relax during traditional cancer treatment. Seattle’s Veterans Center has offered Reiki training to veterans as a tool for self-directed recovery. AIDS treatment centers including The Living Room in Cleveland and The Globe Centre in London have incorporated Reiki as both integrative therapy and supportive care.
